The Reading Year in Review: 2016

Well here we are, almost entirely through the month of January in 2017.

I thought I’d give some thoughts on my reading progress in 2016. Don’t worry, this will be short…

As you can see by checking my reading list, 2016 wasn’t a great year for me. I only managed to read through 21 books (with two months getting absolutely zero books read!). Suffice it to say, I didn’t do well.

However, that’s behind me now. Moving in to 2017, things have changed significantly. Just before Christmas I ordered a Kindle from Amazon. And this thing has totally changed my reading for the better.

Today, 24 days into January, I’ve already read 6 books. It’s been phenomenal reading on the Kindle. I can’t say enough good things about this. You simply must order one yourself if you’re a serious reader.

My only complaint so far is many of the books I want are incredibly expensive (and when I say that, I mean mid-teens dollar amount). I’m used to visiting Half Price Books in town and getting most of my books for $6 or less. In fact, I’ve collected roughly around 400 physical books (spread across 5 bookshelves). So paying 3 times that for an electronic book is a bit disconcerting, but I’ll get over it.

To summarize, it looks like 2017 will be a bang-up year in terms of reading!
