Pictured on the right is Leo Tolstoy, author of the famed work War and Peace. Admittedly, I have not read it, though the thought has crossed my mind a time or two. I don’t know if I have the moxy for it.
Anyway, Tolstoy is (lesser) known also for his theological works. He was a great influencer of Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr through his work The Kingdom of God is Within You. This is another book I intend to read am reading.
But I stopped reading it partway through. Why?
Because I started reading Tolstoy’s What I Believe (also known as My Religion). This is the book where Tolstoy lays the foundation. Here is where he explains, well, what he believes. It is through this lens that he writes The Kingdom of God is Within You. Therefore, to get a better understanding of that book, I felt it prudent to read his words on what he believes (and his case for believing likewise).
I have found it quite interesting thus far, and should provide commentary on it in the (near?) future.
Attached via the link at the bottom of this post is a PDF copy of What I believe that I found on the website nonresistance.org.
